Meet Breanna:
A vote you can afford to count on!

I’m Breanna Tatel, and I’m running for Delegate in Virginia’s 1st District because Arlington deserves a leader who will fight for an affordable, transparent, and generational future where no neighbor is left behind.

Arlington is where I grew up, and it’s the place I will always call home. It’s a community defined by its energy, its neighbors, and its promise, but for too many people, that promise is slipping out of reach.
Right now, young adults, working families, and long-time residents are being priced out of the very neighborhoods that raised them. I know this crisis firsthand: without family support, living in the community where I grew up would be nearly impossible. I’m running for the House of Delegates to face the housing crisis head-on, reform our government, and ensure Arlington remains an affordable, vibrant home for everyone.

My commitment to public service isn't theoretical. It’s personal. I spent the first half of my life in the foster care system before being adopted by Jennifer Tatel, my mother. That experience taught me early on what it means to need a safety net, how critical family stability is, and why we must fight for children who don't always have a voice.
I grew up here in Arlington, graduated from Yorktown High School, and went on to study education at the University of Virginia. Along the way, I’ve dedicated my life to grassroots advocacy and organizing.
  • Standing up for youth safety: Led student walkouts against violence and advocated for survivors with SafeBAE.

  • Expanding voter access: Served as President of Hoos Vote, a non-partisan initiative dedicated to getting young people educated and registered to vote.

  • Empowering young girls: Mentored the next generation as a coach and volunteer for Girls on the Run (after growing up on the team myself!).

Whether playing soccer, coaching, or walking my two-year-old Samoyed, Atlas, through our neighborhoods, my heart is completely anchored in this community.

Having worked on multiple political campaigns across Virginia, I’ve seen firsthand how state policy shapes our daily lives. But my commitment to this work doesn't just come from political experience; it comes from my lived experience. Growing up in foster care before finding my home right here in Arlington taught me early on what it means to need strong community safety nets and leaders who truly show up.

That’s why I’m running for Delegate on three core issues:

A vote for me is a vote for a neighbor who understands the real pressures facing our district, who knows how to organize for real change, and who will never stop fighting for our shared future. We need a Delegate who brings both ground-level campaign experience and authentic lived perspective to Richmond. Together, let’s build an Arlington that works for all of us.
